At Bayside Academy, we provide a high-quality geography education, that inspires in our pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

Our curriculum provides our pupils with relevant, coherent, progressive knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. These essential aspects are explored through the lenses of the following geographical ‘vertical concepts’: 

Our geography curriculum is designed in a way which develops our pupils as geographers, embeds core disciplinary knowledge, and the ability to approach challenging, geographically valid questions using:  

• Geographical skills 
• Fieldwork enquiry 
• Identify patterns and links 
• Using examples and key vocabulary 

Our geography curriculum is also planned in a way which promotes the cultural capital of all our children. We enhance our curriculum by organising fieldwork opportunities, guest speakers and keeping up to date with current local and worldwide events that happen at the current time.

Throughout geography, children have opportunities to use equipment such as atlases, maps and compasses to help them explore the world around them within a range of geographical topics.
