Modern Foreign Languages
At Bayside Academy, we believe that learning a modern foreign language broadens pupils’ horizons, strengthens cultural understanding and equips them with valuable communication skills for the future. Through our French curriculum, pupils develop confidence, curiosity and enthusiasm for language learning.
We use the Kapow Primary French Scheme, which provides a clear, progressive and engaging approach to teaching French across Key Stage 2. This ensures that pupils experience high‑quality language teaching built around authentic contexts, interactive activities and opportunities for meaningful communication.
Our Approach
Our French curriculum aims to:
- Develop confident young linguists who can listen carefully, speak accurately and begin to express themselves in another language.
- Build strong foundations in vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, enabling pupils to make links between French and English.
- Foster an appreciation of French culture, traditions and daily life, helping pupils to understand and value diversity.
- Encourage resilience and curiosity, supporting pupils to practise, take risks and improve their accuracy over time.
