Physical Education

At Bayside Academy, we believe that high‑quality Physical Education is essential in developing healthy, active, confident pupils who understand the importance of lifelong physical activity. Our PE curriculum provides all children with the opportunity to develop physical competence, resilience, teamwork, and a positive attitude towards movement and sport.

We deliver our curriculum using the Complete PE scheme, which offers a progressive, inclusive, and engaging framework from Early Years through to Year 6. Complete PE enables teachers to deliver well‑structured lessons that build on pupils’ prior learning and support the development of key physical, social, and emotional skills.

Through our PE curriculum, we aim to ensure that all pupils:

  • Develop competence and confidence in a broad range of physical activities.
  • Experience competitive and cooperative opportunities that promote teamwork, respect, and fair play.
  • Build resilience through challenges that encourage determination, problem‑solving, and perseverance.
  • Understand how physical activity contributes to their health, wellbeing, and overall development.
  • Enjoy being active and foster positive attitudes towards maintaining an active lifestyle.

In addition to high‑quality lessons, we provide opportunities for pupils to take part in a variety of sports clubs, festivals, and competitions within our local community. We work to ensure participation for all, while also nurturing talent and encouraging pupils to strive for personal excellence.

By using the Complete PE scheme, we are able to offer a curriculum that is ambitious, inclusive, and aligned with national expectations. Our approach ensures that every child leaves Bayside Academy with the physical literacy, confidence, and motivation to lead healthy, active lives.
